The Savoy was popular as a fleet model by taxicab companies, and the majority of their sales came from this. The Savoy as so popular in fact as a taxi, that a brand new Plymouth Taxi Special was introduced in 1960. At the end of the 1964 model year Plymouth discontinued the Savoy nameplate everywhere except Canada, where it remained until 1965.
